Excursions to Grenoble and Annecy, with a stop at the Chartreuse distillery March 30-April 8, 2006
We did not take photos in Grenoble because there were torrential downpours during our visit, but Grenoble has an excellent Museum of Art and a moving Museum of the French Resistance (W W II).
After spending the night in Grenoble, we drove to Voiron to visit the Chartreuse Cellars where the Chartreuse Liquor is made. (http://www.chartreuse.fr/pa_visit_uk.htm) The tan colored car in front is our rental and Eunice is waiting to enter the Chartreuse Cellars for the tour.

Terry and Eunice enjoy the samples of the green liqueur
On the way to Annecy, we pass the memorial to the
142 young people near the town of St Laurent du Pont who died in
1970 in a fire. See

Inferno wipes out a Generation for the full story of this event.
The turnstile at the exit where so many bodies were found is left on
the site.

On to Annecy, the "Venice" of France with its canals and old city

Eunice tries to decide on which local specialty to order, while Terry chooses the Tartiflette, a wonderful local potato dish with the local reblochon cheese, bacon, crème fraiche, and wine. The recipe is at: http://www.cuisine-french.com/cgi/mdc/l/en/recettes/tartiflette_ill.html

On the way back to Lyon, we drive by a mountain called the "Cat's Tooth" as you can see by the silhouette
