Chapelle St-Michel in Le Puy-en-Velay in foreground and Notre-Dame-de-France Statue

cone of the volcano which is left after the rest of the volcano erodes away.

Eunice's Birthday Celebration in Le Puy-en-Velay

A Celebration with a Roman Candle for Eunice

Polignac, a short distance from Le Puy-En-Velay, was the site of the temple built on a large rock outcropping and dedicated to Apollo in Roman times. The Oracle of Apollo was consulted in 47 AD by Emperor Claudius at this site.

Later a medieval castle was built in Polignac on the site of the Roman Temple.

Terry, having climbed to the top of Polignac, looks back toward Le Puy-en-Velay, with a view of the
Massif Central in the background.

Eunice stands by car in the Polignac Church yard.

Le Chambon - the Village that saved Jewish and other Children in WW II.

The Protestant Church whose members protected the children from the Nazi's. If you
look closely, there is a Jewish day care center in the building to the right of the church.

The plaque honoring the memory of those in the community who saved the children
during the Nazi occupation of France in World War II.

That night, after driving through a snow storm, we stayed at a charming bed and breakfast
between le Mont Dore and le Bourboule in the north of the massif central.

Finishing our trip through the Massif Central we visited Vulcania - a volcano-land park
http://www.vulcania.com/anglais and stayed our last night before returning to Lyon at a
fascinating Art Deco hotel (a former radio station) in Clermont-Ferrand (home of the Michelin brothers).
